Our journey has been anything but ordinary! We started looking for “something extraordinary” in 2004. Finally in 2006, Puakea Ranch was purchased! The vision was rooted in preservation, a love of hospitality and deep respect for Hawai’i’s history.

Set on the beautiful North Kohala coast, Puakea Ranch held a rare collection of historic Parker Ranch cowboy cottages-simple, soulful homes that carried the quiet character of paniolo life and old Hawai’i. Rather than replace them, we lovingly restored each cottage, honoring its plantation-era charm while adding comfort, warmth and thoughtful design.

Over time, the ranch became more than a just a place to stay. The cottages have evolved into unique homes, each with its own personality and sense of history. Artists have stayed and created beautiful paintings of Puakea that are a part of the experience of staying with us. Guests come not only for a bed and a great view, but for the feeling of stepping into a living story-one shaped by open pastures, ocean air, old wood, ancient trees, beautiful gardens and the spirit of Kohala.
